Read the fine print, my friend…

So I am sitting here today trying to get my business off the ground.  What business is that you say?  The blog/small website hosting business with a great deal of attention towards using WordPress.  I am 51 years old and my kids are ready to go off to college so I need to make use of my time.  It is very important for me to be an Entrepeneur again as locating any means of employment other than the part-time Crossing Guard position I have held for years is very bleak.  I have taught myself well and working on the computer is a great passion of mine.  I have my "Nay-Sayer" repellent vest on and will move forward and get my first customer/client.

So here is my pitch.  One of the top and most popular Hosting providers is HostGater.   At this time, I don't have the means and technical savvy to offer the additional services that they have checked off.  But I can offer comparable and quality service for one low price per year.  Let's go through the list and have a look shall we.

So what does the above information tell you? That other than Email accounts, Storage space and Google Adword Credits our services compare.  I won't lie, they do have a lower price of $5.97/month (a 40% savings) but you have to sign up for 3 years (almost like the cell phone plans out there).

With both of my competitors, if you want the deal of $4.99-$5.99/mth then you have to commit to 1-3 years of service.  HostGator provides a simplified cpanel and I just spoke to customer service at GoDaddy; they don't provide one with their WordPress Hosting only if you sign up for regular hosting and choose to install it yourself.  For Domain Names both will register them for you as long as you sign for 1-3 years and it will be your responsibility to renew it in a year.  They say "Free" but when it comes down to a refund, don't fool yourself the cost of the domain is deducted.  I could go on but you should read the small print such as "Terms of Service" usually located at the very bottom of the page.

My March Madness Price is a scary one payment of $25 for all of the above and this includes 1 year of hosting.  But here is a even scarier deal - For $15 I will you all of the above for a trial of 3 months.  If you are satisfied with the service just pay the additional $10 owing and your 1 year of hosting will then commence (so you get 15 months of hosting all together).  This will be an ongoing special until the end of the month.  If I get a great response from it, then I will continue it only at my regular rate of $35 (this means the amount owing at the end of the 3 month trial would be $20 instead of $10).

Wednesday Morning – Distraction Control

Getting organized is key here and trying to work without the usual Spouse/Mother distractions.  Hubby works during night-time so he is awake from noon on usually.  I just want to get some regular time on the computer, I need this to work so I can part of a work unit again.

Okay the cat has left and I can get some work done.  I am going to WordPress - Beginner - Dashboard.  Please follow if you are new to WordPress or want to what it is about.

Monday Morning – Re-posted

So here it is, Monday morning and I have just run my numbers (for the umpteenth time) for a 10yr forecast to see if I can bring the cost of my processing fee from $20 to $10.  The only way it works is if I don’t offer the $5.00 referral fee.  I even tried to feed the previous month’s profit back into the current month’s income but I still end up with negatives at the end.  So some updating is going to be done but from now on the $35 special will be ongoing.  What I can do is drop the $10 processing fee for this month and maybe a bit longer if I get quite a few signing up.

What am I doing?  Well I love WordPress and have gotten pretty handy with it.  I have hosting capabilities and I need a job.  So I am running a WordPress Blog/Site Hosting service and you will get your money’s worth.  I will install WordPress for you and install Plugins for you as well (can be easily deleted later).  For $25 you will get this, a Domain Name registered and hosting for a year.  This is my March Madness special.

Look forward to helping you get online.

I am always learning

I had made a post the other day but had problems viewing the page.  This is a test post, meaning I havent't done anything but type these sentences.  I want to see if the page will show also I updated some plugins (very important to do) so let's cross our fingers.

Go!

Learn as you go, that is what I am doing.  Please be patient.
