Dictionary.com

Well after typing in a few weird words I can honestly say it's pretty good. Yes there is advertising all over but let's face it, physical employment is dwindling; more and more people are going online to earn a living, I have no issues with that as I am in the same boat. Back to the dictionary, it does work well and even if the word doesn't exist the site provides you with many other choices that close in spelling to the word you are searching for.

Merriam-Webster Online

This is basically like Dictionary.com only with more in depth search options such as Medical or Encyclopedia.  Again there is advertising but there is quite an array of bits and bobs for you to look through.

The Free Dictionary by Farlex

Pretty easy to use and only a few advertisements plus a wide variety of search options.  As the others it has Basic Dictionary/Thesaurus even the Medical and Encyclopedia options; but it also has Legal, Financial, Acronyms, Idioms and Wikipedia Encyclopedia.  You can log in and give feedback so it's well rounded and worth a few minutes of your time.
